TASHKENT, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan has updated the procedures for entering the country by cancelling the mandatory 14-day quarantine or cutting it down to seven days based on the "color" of inbound flights, the country's special commission to combat coronavirus said on Thursday.

Diplomats and their family members, investors, representatives and specialists of foreign companies, students, and those seeking medical treatment can enter or leave Uzbekistan, the commission said.

Visitors with green flights, which include those from Japan, South Korea, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Georgia, Hungary and Latvia, will not be placed under any quarantine upon arrival, it said.

And passengers with yellow flights from the EU countries (except Spain and Britain) as well as Azerbaijan, will be put under home quarantine.

The Central Asian nation has marked earlier inbound flights with red, yellow and green according to the COVID-19 epidemic situation in the country of departure and opened the border for people of certain categories.

So far, the country has confirmed 32,654 COVID-19 cases, with 211 deaths and 25,659 recoveries.
