The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development will fund Egypt to the tune of $100 million for a
1300 megawatt power plant.

With Egypt wanting to boost its energy output, the country has said it will add 9,200 megawatts to help meet growing demand.

Egypt, the most populous Arab country, already has large capacity which supplies about 99.1 per cent of its population.

Egypt should more than triple its installed power capacity by 2027 through the plant, which will be built in the Red Sea coastal town of Ain Sokhna, east of Cairo.

The African Development Bank, the World Bank, the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development and the West Delta Electricity company will also participate in the project.
