Norway moves toward banning polluting cars
Kazakhstan News.Net Tuesday 28th April, 2009
There is a push to ban new gasoline-powered cars in Norway from 2015.
The Norwegian government believes the move could encourage carmakers shift to greener models.
Carmakers could only sell new cars that run fully or partly on fuels such as electricity, biofuels or hydrogen.
Hybrids using fossil fuels and electricity would still be permitted.
The Socialist Left Party has said it would like to outlaw sales of cars that run solely on fossil fuels in six years' time, so technology can be achieved to combat global warming.
An exhibition in Oslo recently featured electric and biofuel-powered cars.
